  West hyvee has always been my go to grocery store in Ames but today when I went to use their western union services, the girl who was working there was disrespectful and unprofessional. After having been waiting for more than 15mins, this guy started helping me and at some point she just took over from the guy and served the people behind me without asking either of us. They were elderly and I honestly would have gladly consented to it but acting as if i wasn't there was not okay (guy seemed suprised as well). When i called her out on it she said 'oh sorry' as if it meant nothing. Its not my fault that they apparently have only 1 computer that does what everyone behind me wanted to do and feeling pressured to send money fast because she kept asking the guy whether he was done while i was clearly still standing there isn't something I'd recommend. Left with a very bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't even bring myself to grab the groceries that I had initially intended to. I'll be taking my business elsewhere :/

  Pretty good food. Great grocery selection. A bit pricey, but nothing ridiculous. Friendly employees.

  If you live closer to this Hyvee in Ames, this is definitely the better store. Recently updated, and the restaurant inside is pretty good (Sunday brunch is killer).

  Just got off the phone with the florist, who was as sweet and accommodating as can be. A couple weeks ago, when I was "back home" for Thanksgiving, my mom and I were shopping and ran into some issues with gift cards (the fees we didn't see!). There were two guys at the check-out who were so incredibly helpful and funny, and who didn't make us feel like idiots. I remember the jingle I always heard as a kid, "Where there's a helpful smile, in every aisle." It's so true! Makes me miss friendly Ames, Iowa. And bonus, they have one of the best cheese selections outside of Wisconsin!
